Sure, it’s not the surprising choice, but it is the right choice. Noah Hawley did what he set out to do with Fargo season 2: tell a sprawling, Midwestern crime story and fill it with more memorable characters than you can shake a mustachioed Colin Farrell
If you missed our live-chat for the 82nd Annual Academy Awards this evening, don’t fret, we have the winners and a brief recap of the ceremony for you. In short, The Hurt Locker took home the big categories, beating out Avatar and the predictable choices won for the four acting categor
On the TV side: the mini-series Mildred Pierce landed four nods, including acting nominations for stars Kate Winslet, Guy Pearce, and Evan Rachel Wood. Showtime’s Homeland , HBO’s Boardwalk Empire , and ABC’s Modern Family each landed three nods, while HBO’s hit fantasy series Game of Thrones and FX’s successful spooky romp American Horror Story also managed to secure two nominations (including, in the coveted Best Dramatic Television Series category). Sadly, AMC’s critical smash, Breaking Bad , only landed a Best Actor
Carvel turned in an exceedingly exuberant performance during one of the more enjoyable miniseries on TV in 2015. His Jonathan Strange held his own against Eddie Marsan’s Mr. Norrell, to bring the dynamic duo of Susanna Clarke’s weighty tome to life. The show came and went without much recognition, but Carvel’s lively performance deserves a bit of the spotlight h
Let’s not count out the fact that the HFPA has been a fan of House of Cards and Robin Wright before. Sure, it’s been nearly a year since the series had a new episode, but anticipation for season 4 might be enough to spur the passion of those vot
Both actors have been notoriously overlooked for the contributions made to their respective series. Emmerich is such an integral part of The Americans that it feels at times like he could take the lead and the show wouldn’t miss a beat. Meanwhile, Slattery deserves a nod for the mustache he wore in the final season alone. There’s also his getting drunk with Peggy in an empty office, so it bears repeating: Why isn’t he on this l
In terms of the awards themselves, the biggest change came with the number of nominees for the most important category, Best Picture. Instead of the usual 5 nominees which always ended in negative feedback due to the non-inclusion of major hits such as The Dark Knight at last year’s presentation, the academy saw fit to bump the number of nominees up to 10 rather than improve the selection process. So now, we’re left with a few legitimate contenders and a bunch of filler movies that would never have been nominated in previous ye
Yes, it’s hard to not want to see the spectacle of Lady Gaga taking home an award for the spectacle that is AHS , but Dunst is the odd-on favorite here. Her performance as Peggy Blumquist was spot on from beginning to end, showing off Dunst’s dramatic range as well as her comedic timing. This is the kind of role many actresses likely dream of and Dunst was open and engaging for the entirety of the season. This was a great performance from start to fin
We can go on about The Americans all day. The show is deserving of more recognition, as is its cast – particularly Matthew Rhys, whose depiction of a man gradually becoming overwhelmed by his conscience is one of television’s best. Elsewhere, you have Mads Mikkelsen’s role as the cannibalistic Dr. Hannibal Lecter , which redefined the character and made him frightening and frighteningly romantic all at the same t
Filmmaker Michel Hazanavicius’ black-and-white silent film homage, The Artist , led the way with six Globe nods total; co-writer/helmer Alexander Payne’s The Descendants and director Tate Taylor’s The Help were close behind. That heavily-praised dramedy and popular literary adaptation (respectively) managed to snag five nominations each, putting them one ahead of Descendants star George Clooney’s latest directorial effort, The Ides of March and Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris , which each stacked up four nods. Steven Spielberg’s latest dramatic offering, War Horse , was right behind that pair with three nominations in technical categories; Albert Nobbs also managed to secure three nods, in the areas of acting and original music, while Moneyball landed three for Best Drama, Actor, and Screenp
All in all, the event was solid for an industry Movie awards games updates|https://moviefestivalhub.Com/ presentation but to the viewers at home, it wasn’t that exciting or up beat. There were a lot of good movies to choose from this year and I think we all would of liked to see Quentin Tarantino and his Inglourious Basterds get a little more cre
Hosting this year’s show was the comedic pair of Alec Baldwin and previous Oscars host Steve Martin. The two did a great job of keeping the atmosphere light and no doubt, helping viewers not only tune in, but to stick aro
In the end the family manages to at least partially gain back the trust of the art world by finally documenting on film themselves Marla creating a painting called «Ocean» from start to finish. Although that particular painting does share similarities to prior paintings, it actually seems less sophisticated than those that have come before. Since then they have documented another painting from start to finish called «Rain», which does seem to be closer to the style of the earlier painti
