Many people will enjoy both Nioh and Dark Souls for what they are. Nioh ‘s boss fights are also excruciatingly difficult, possibly more than the Dark Souls games. Nioh is available on PlayStation 4 and
Although it should be mentioned that the player can engage in «overcharming» if they really need the effect of that one additional charm. As the name implies, overcharming occurs when the player forcefully equips an additional charm that goes beyond the player’s notch limit. This triggers the overcharm effect, which doubles the amount of damage the Knight receives from all sources. It’s a risky move, but the player does have the option to resort to it. Now normally the game returns a charm to the player’s inventory if there are not enough notch slots, but if it constantly selected it will trigger the overcharmed eff
For most who play games, this feeling is completely understandable, unless you’re one of the few super-humans that can game for ludicrous amounts of time (looks at all streamers) then this happens to the best of us. It’s unfortunate when looking forward to a game only to be completely put off by it or feel disinterest in said game. No matter how bad you wanted to play it, it might just not be the time; a blockade. What does one do then? When having waited to buy ‘x’ game only to find disinterest; not everyone can afford games on a weekly basis and there’s a massive selection to choose from. The first advice would be to tough it out. Maybe that game isn’t the one for now, but at least there are fallbacks until that moment of inspiration hits.
Plenty of games have tried to copy Dark Souls because of its unique formula. Some have even been controversially deemed Souls-likes (you’ll see). Since there are so many Dark Souls copycats out there, it’s only natural that we would compile this list. Here’s a selection of the b

Both of the Ori games have been particularly praised for their beautiful artwork and atmospheric audio. While the tone of the games might not be quite as dark as Hollow Knight ‘s, Ori’s forest-home possess a melancholy, haunting beauty. The various twisted creatures that Ori must contend against are more classic Halloween fare. Some particular standouts are Shriek the insane, half-petrified owl, and Mora the spore-corrupted spider qu

Salt and Sanctuary is an indie RPG-platformer developed by a one-man studio. It’s been accurately described by critics as a combination of Dark Souls and Castlevania . In particular, the game draws inspiration from 1997’s Castlevania: Symphony of the Night . Proudly wearing the influence of these heavy-hitters on its sleeve, it’s impressive that Salt and Sanctuary retains its own identity so well. The game uses a 2D, hand-drawn art-style that simply bleeds unsettling horror. As players guide their blank-slate protagonist across a dark and dangerous world, they must contend with evils both great and sm
Even though it carries a lot of emotional DNA from Hollow Knight, Silksong feels like a pretty damn refined successor, especially when it comes to level design , pacing, and world flow. From the very first second, you feel that its story progression is smoother and more direct, meaning it manages to be even more addict
It’s nice finding that footing to play the games we knew we would love. It doesn’t always work out, but in my case it did and can for anyone. I look forward to the dynamic bloody streets of Vampyr or maybe some dungeon crawling through a labyrinth of a nest for a Hollow bug world (I’m honestly shook how good Hollow Knight is). My best advice: try and tough it out, be patient and know that eventually that feeling might come around. After all, you wouldn’t have bought the dang game otherwise.
